review 1: I received this book through the goodreads firstreads giveaway. This was an enjoyable mystery about a journalist writing a extended obituary about The Girl Next Door, a woman killed by a hit and run driver. He discovers that the accident was probably not an accident, and finds himself in deeper and deeper trouble as he tries to find the true story. It was a good read, but I easily figured out who did it, long before he did.
review 2: Carter Ross, an investigative reporter for a New Jersey newspaper, decides to write an obituary for a young female newspaper delivery person who has been killed by a hit and run driver. Ross just wants to honor a fellow coworker at the paper. Little does he realize he is opening a can of worms. The hit and run turns out not to b... moree an accident. The victim was not only a paper delivery person, but was also very active member with the local newspaper handlers union which is presently at odds with the financially strapped paper. I liked the character portrayals. They seem to be very down to earth. No supermen or suave spies here. The situations are believable. The plot is sprinkled with just enough mystery and humor to keep you happily turning the pages. This book was provided by Amazon Vine and the well read folks at Minotaur Books. less
