Virgil Cain Mysteries
review 1: Virgil Cain is arrested for the murder of the lawyer who got his wife's likely killer off scot free. He breaks out of jail to find the killer. Then the alleged killer of his wife is murdered. That basic plot is transformed by Brad SMith into a gripping mystery peopled with interesting characters, including a smart woman cop whose professionalism balances out the idiocy of one of her colleagues. The dialogue is sharp, the interplay of plot elements is skillful, and the outcome is both satisfying and believable. I'm on the hunt now for Davis's other books.
review 2: Brad Smith's novel Red Means Run is funny, smart, & well written. I really enjoyed his characters & think it could have been longer as I wanted more interaction with them. Virgil is the kind of man on
... more the run a gal could really fall for, he's got great handyman skills too! Hopefully Brad Smith plans on writing a series about Virgil. The pace was good & I didn't want to put it down but there are rules against reading on company time. Overall I would rate it a 3-1/2 stars on the goodreads system. Wish we had a ten star rating as it would be a 7 or 8. I will be checking out more of Brad Smith's books. less

This was a great read - already looking forward to the next one but quickly running out of summer!

This was a fun, easy to read mystery. Great for a quick read post semester of law school.

(spoilers) I thought the ending/resolution was a little rushed, as was the relationship.
