review 1: I don’t love these LDS talks turned in to overpriced LDS books and yet I get suckered in to reading them from time to time. I read this one because I listened to Brad Wilcox’s talk “His Grace is Sufficient” a handful of times and loved it. I used it for a couple weeks in my Sunday School class because there was some really good stuff in it, but Brad Wilcox is a speaker more than a writer and the plays on words and repetition that work so well when spoken come off kind of cheesy and contrived in this format. I was a bit put off a few times as well when he talked about approaching people to counsel them about changing their behavior or being a better example. I am sure this was done in love and with best intentions but when you read it, it sounds judgmental. There ar... moree still some good one liners in here and some information about serving in the church that was beneficial as I prepare to tackle a calling to teach early morning seminary, but overall I would rather hear Brad Wilcox give a talk. I like to write and speak about my spiritual experiences and have been advised many times to turn this into a career, but I kind of have a hard time with the idea of selling your testimony and maybe that is why these books rub me the wrong way. 2.5 stars for me, but I will round to three just because he really is an outstanding speaker. I just think the books are an attempt to stretch his talks out to make them profitable.
review 2: - I enjoyed this book better than The Continuous Atonement. This one spoke to me more.- It is nice to know that others have the same questions and struggles that I do.- I learned a few things about me and the gospel. It was good.- I really liked the story of the old man juggling for Jesus.- There are times where I feel like God asks too much of us, but we can only do our best. - I liked the theme of this book. We are constantly being converted to the gospel. It isn't a one time deal. We will always be learning and striving to be better throughout our whole lives. less
