review 2: This book was hard for me to read. I have a 12 year old daughter and this brings up nightmares of all the bad things that can happen, that I would like to pretend never do. But it is good to be reminded every once in a while. It does give you an insight into a very sick relationship and how it got started. The author really makes you see them. It reminds you that people who seem perfectly normal could be totally different behind closed doors. I really didn't like the relationship that developed between the mom and the private investigator. It changed the focus of the book and it didn't work. If they had just become friends and left out all the sex crap it would have been much better. less
