review 1: Knowing who the bad guys were from the very beginning, thus having no mystery, made this book really boring. From about page 100, all I could think was 'For the love of God, just figure it out already." It didn't help that it had an irritantly convoluted plot. Oh, and the main female lead is an idiot(seriously, most of the book consisted of me thinking "Zoe, you are an idiot). The freaking freindzone (gag) angst and relationship angst were annoying. So. Very. Annoying.Also, Novak really tried to push Tiffany as a sympathetic character, and it didn't work. Was she a victim? Yes, but not that much of one. I got the feeling I was supposed to feel for sympathy for a woman who helped her husband kidnap, torture and abuse children. So no, that wasn't happe... morening.
review 2: This book was recommended to me,and I THINK I liked it, but, after two years as I attempt to rate and review this book, I remember ABSOLUTLEY nothing about it. I went to the book site, and read all the reader reviews hoping that something would trigger my memory, but I have no recollection of having read it at all. Could it be that I am just getting so old that my memory fails me, or could it be that the book was so bland as to leave no lasting memory in my mind? I cannot say which it is, however, I do frequently read a book and promptly forget a lot about it.. but I usually remember whether or not I liked the book. This totally blank page in my book of memories is baffling. I'm giving it a two star rating just because I think I must have liked it based on what the other reviewers have said about it. The books that I really really LOVE, I do not ever forget. less
