review 1: This was a great start to the Whiskey Creek series. A quick read for me. Olivia has come home to help plan her sister's wedding to her ex-boyfriend. Not only that, but it's only been 3 months since he fooled around with her sister and she's pregnant. This whole situation with her sister made me want to reach through my kindle and slap the spoiled little brat. Noelle is one of the most self-centered, selfish characters I've ever read. I REALLY wanted Olivia to put her in her place, although I think she accomplished that by moving on. But, I wanted that moment of release for Olivia. Kyle was definitely given too much sympathy in this story. He made his bed, and I hope he never sleeps comfortably in it again. Brandon, Kyle's step-brother, came to Olivia's aid whe... moren she first arrives back in town, and he turns out to be the knight in shining armour. They have always had a secret thing for eachother, since he took her to prom. Noelle also had a major thing for him, resulting in a restraining order against her. Her reaction to Olivia being involved with him is beyond hilarious. I could have read a full length novel with only this dynamic. Did I mention that she really deserves to put in her place? If you enjoy a quick, fun read, then you'll enjoy this book. You might want to pull your hair out, or Noelle's, but it's worth it.
review 2: This was my first taste of Brenda Novak, and I can say I'll be back for more. I loved this story. The characters were real and I connected with Olivia (love that name) and . Brandon is the typical bad-boy, but with an injury that could threaten his career, he is vulnerable and oh, so human! Great read (novella length) with all the drama of a small town where everyone knows everyone, close families with their own problems and secrets, friendship and love. Welcome to Whiskey Creek! Looking forward to When Lightning Strikes, Book 2 in the Series. less

Character development wasn't the best, but it was still an enjoyable novella.

Too much romance, not enough suspense.
