review 1: Bought it on a whim and became my book obsession. My love of ancient civilizations was fed with detail and beauty. I read through this book so quickly. It was like a beautiful depiction of ancient life as it collided with modern day. Unique with such a fluid movement it was easy to delve into and be transported. I was waiting patiently at first for the sequel and then rather impatiently. His blending of the past is woven so easily through the storyline that it feels as through it was written in history.
review 2: Read this book through to the end...and at times I was not sure why. There were several times when the book was too graphic and just had a few gross areas that really didn't add too much to the overall book. But I wanted to know what was going to hap
... morepen. I also didn't like the way some of the scenes shifted. The end was an absolute twist and it did work with the characters. But I am not planning on reading the next book in the series because I just don't want to go there. I did enjoy the way the characters digressed at times, it was relate-able; but he didn't really have to explain the exponential math calculations when playing with more stones over and over again. It was an odd book, it was very long. It won't be a book I would ever re-read. less
