review 1: Mayor Hundred is considering a giant leap in political terms, all the while trying to combat a President hating menace during the days before the Dubya is set to come to the big apple. The terrorist is a tour guide with a crush on The Machine, Hundred's retired alter ego. She is angry that he gave up The Machine, and goes to great lengths to orchestrate a meeting between the two. When this happens, Hundred defuses the situation in an unexpected way. I'm still liking how this series is going. The idea of a world with one tower remaining after 9/11 is very intriguing.
review 2: This trade is as consistently great as the seven that have come before it.A man who becomes "infected" with an alien technology finds he can now talk to machines. He then become a crime-fi
... moreghting vigilante on the streets of NYC (The Great Machine). On 9/11 he manages to prevent the second plane from hitting the second tower. Now that he's a hero, what does he do? Run for mayor of course. This series takes place during his term as mayor - Mayor Hundred mostly faces the trials of being a mayor in NYC, with the occasional interference from a copy-cat or someone mental from his past fighting crime.By far, one of the best written books out there. It's not set in any type of superhero universe, but yet it as this thread of alien (or is it future) technology. As it's set in NYC, it's also a great read for New Yorkers.Brian K. Vaughan is one of my favorite writers in this medium. If you haven't read Y: The Last Man you must. Now that he's one of the writers/producers of Lost, this is the only comic title he's writing these days.If I had to pick only one title to follow it would be this one. less
