review 1: more reviews at: thegoddessofbooks.blogspot.comEh. It started out too quick; in the middle of the first page the invasion happened. I would have liked to learn more about that main character guy, whatever his name was. Also, if Lindsey was a smoker, aren't there side-effects to quitting cold-turkey? She seemed totally fine. But I have to give it points for taking place in Austin, Texas. There were some good jokes, too. Overall, it was an okay book for one about aliens.

I love Jesse (the protagonist), and I totally dig his relationship with his father. Jesse’s mother was an English teacher, which helps k... moreeep profanity to a minimal – it fact, it adds to the overall humor of the book because Jesse comes up with ‘proper ways’ of swearing that tickle your funny bone.There’s definitely romance (which I love to read about!), but not so much that it takes away from the very cool sci-fi storyline. A note-worthy mention: there is a serious undertone regarding one of the leading characters, however, Yansky manages to pull it off using implication. As a mother, I would have no problem with my tween daughter picking up a copy.Overall, I loved reading along as Jesse learned to deal with his strange new world. The character development was well done and the chemistry between Jesse, his friends and his love interest are believable and typically pretty comical, it is definitely a must-read. less
