review 1: Firstly, I should point out that I was gifted this by book through the author, my review however, has not been influenced by this.I love Bronwen's historical books and this is the first contemporary romance that I have read by her and I would have to say, that I thoroughly enjoyed it. I would describe this book as a "comforter", what this means is, Yes the storyline has been done by other authors, it is predictable and the outcome inevitable. The difference with this book and other similar books, is the quality of writing and the way the author brings her characters to life. I thought that the hero was a complete idiot at times and wanted to scream at him and felt so much for our heroine, so young, innocent and trusting in her love for her 10 year older husband, having ... moreto find out after she married, that he only wed her to secure his heritage by having a child/children. To have these feelings when reading a story, shows the true brilliance of the author. I read my "comforter" books because I know exactly what I am getting, a good storyline filled with misunderstandings, great sex and a happy ending. This book had it all. The cover for the book, covers the story so well, that I won't repeat. If you are looking for a contemporary romance, that has a good-feel feeling about it, sex but for graphic, a few heartfelt moments that nearly bring tears to your eyes, but has a lovely ending, look no further....
review 2: This pretty much reads like a Harlequin novel, even the title could be a HQ novel. I've picked this book mainly because of the cover. And the cover is definitely much more interesting than the book. I didn't expect a lot after reading the synopsis. I like to read contemporary romance. It's just because many of the stories have already been told many and many times so it's more about the execution. This book is not terrible, but it's not good either. The story is very familiar. After 1/3 of the book, I've skimmed the rest. less
