Homeworld #2 was always meant to have its roots in the washed up future-dreams of the mid-century. When I first put it together, though, I was never quite content with the way it turned out. Homeworld #1 had a kind of heart behind it- a story to it. Homeworld #2 sort of felt disjointed. Then, this summer, I lived in a little town on the California coast, and I realized the heart of what Homeworld #2 was supposed to be about all along. I felt the longing that was central to my theme.
So, I re-made Homeworld #2. Really, I expanded it, leaving most of the original content in, and adding two more stories, more poetry, a non-fiction piece, and photography from this summer inspired by the space-age decay aesthetic.
It’s not often that a creator has a chance to rethink and revise work that’s already been published. I suppose that’s the great thing about zines and independent press. I appreciate the opportunity to try again, and make something better. I hope that you’ll appreciate it too.
