review 2: Brilliant theory about how, regardless of the size or nature of an organization, the w
... moreay people gain and maintain power is the same. The rules that apply to a dictator, a faith leader, a democratic president or head of FIFA are all the same, they are simply tweaked based on how many people you need to keep happy in order to maintain their support for your leadership. They seem to conclude that a liberal democracy is the most effective at keeping a leader reined but still points out there are many old and new ways to limit even that. At first it seems cynical but it can be very useful as one way to interpret an individual's actions. Interestingly, though the authors claim this is a DICTATOR's handbook, any individual who wants to be more involved could read this and make it handbook for holding their leadership accountable as the author's provide many suggestions for solution that might work in keeping a leader accountable. For that reason, I think this should be required reading for high school juniors (give them a year to try out the theory on senior class leadership if they like). less
