review 1: Another decent read for me. But I honestly enjoyed the first book more. I just felt the pace was faster than this one. This one was a bit too slow for me to keep up. But, the end of the book just left me speechless. Wow, I can understand why the title is called "Betrayal of Thieves."Plot's Rating: 3/5I did not enjoyed this plot as much as the first book. I felt that the story was just plain. It's a little draggy and too short. She tries to find her companion who has gone missing. But in the end, everything does not go as she had planned. Basically those sentences summarizes the whole book.Don't get me wrong. There were positives too. I like how the setting kinda switches up since she escapes the forest and enters a whole new environment. Character's Rating: 5/5 As usual, I... more like the way the author creates these characters. Nothing much has developed in her character. But we do learn about a few new mysterious magic powers she could possess. Setting's Rating: 5/5I love the comparison between the forest and city. I was thrilled to finally see a change in the setting. I was hoping for that one. And the author didn't disappoint me on that. Perfect details and descriptions of the setting change. Also, how she needs to adapt to a different environment. Cover's Rating: 5/5 Similar cover but also LOVE IT! She has a different pose. Haha. Once again, Sword+Magic=PERFECTION
review 2: The story of Ilan keep unfolding in his windily way at 2nd book "Betrayal of thieves".Greenwood keep my fascination all the way in this book too. So now I am waiting impatiently for the 3rd and the 4th.Now you meet a little bit mature Ilan - as she learn one thing or more in life. Still she is strong headed and impatience kind but at list she developed some morality sense. She also learn somthing new about the types of magic and her שcquired "arcane bow".Other characters: ** Terrace -(the "nerd" type) that we learn to love in the "magic of thieves" get a surprising turn. ** Hadrian - We got to know better ** and a new character - Fleet - has a potential for more complex personality, but still he is such a refreshing persona. ** The praetor - now a mystery persona, but I believe that he is going to get a major rule in the next books** Seephinia - of the river people another strong women character.(Seephinia’s no servant but a friend. Her people are too independent to be commanded by any one person. The Praetor may think he has bought them, but the river folk don’t see themselves as owned and I think if he or the other drylanders presume otherwise for long, they will discover the truth to their hurt.”) less

The first book was better, which wasn't that good anyway. I'm unimpressed overall.
