review 1: This was a little bit all over the place and not quite cohesive. That being said, it was entertaining. I listened to it in audiobook format and it kept me company while I did the mundane chores of my life. I am grateful for that. Some books are for sitting down, reading by a fire, and savoring every exquisitely crafted sentence, and some books are for listening to in headphones while you clean toilets and fold the laundry. I enjoy both types. She makes some good points about what it means to be a woman, however, women come in such variety and she hardly represents every woman. She is very rock n' roll, so, I can see that some women might have a hard time relating to her perspective and that might put off the reader a bit. I am at least a 1/4 rock n' roll and could identify... more with the writer somewhat. Gender politics is a huge, mucky, subject to explore so enjoyment of this book might depend on one's mood and weather or not one is up for thinking about such topics.
review 2: This book is a lot of fun. It gets 5 stars for being able to literally make me snort with laughter on multiple occasions!! Unfortunately the rambling style and the rare thing which I found slightly offensive (I'm aware that humour has to be controversial to work sometimes but I'm so not on board for Auschwitz jokes) has forced me to downgrade to 3 stars. Will leave you feeling amused and admittedly kinda empowered, but not a feminist revelation or anything. (DONT GET ME WRONG I LOVE YOU CAITLIN) less
