review 1: When Bob's wife dies, he moves in with his daughter, Anne, and her family. It's like, he moves in and the family begins to fall apart. Over all hangs the story written in the 60's about Cooperstown, where they live. It was a Peyton Place kind of story, but all the characters were easy to match to their real life counterparts. Anne is haunted by the fear that Bob was portrayed in the book, and has been afraid for all her married life that her husband would be unfaithful.
review 2: This book, advertised as a family drama, drew me to it because I thought it might be closer to the story of the publication of Peyton Place which will be remembered by those in my generation. It was a bit disappointing on that front. I really enjoyed parts of the book, especially b... moreeing able to examine issues through several perspectives. It did seem uneven to me, resulting in a "good" rating rather than a "great" one. I suspect lots of people would like it better than I did. less
