review 1: Enjoyed this novel, which takes place during one week in a family's life and is told from several viewpoints - male and female, young and old. The characters were complex enough to feel whole and realistic to me, and the theme of love was deftly handled throughout. I'm not spoiling anything by saying that the final scene, with it's foreshadowing of what will happen six months, one year, three years from now, was just excellent.
review 2: It was interesting to read this book right after finishing Franzen's "The Corrections." Both books examine the intricacies of family dynamics. Franzen's approach was to dig deep and peel away every single layer until nothing salvageable was left. Wright's approach was to skate safely on the thick ice and take no risks. Her char
... moreacters were intriguing, but the reader never gets to see what makes them tick. And, she took easy shortcuts to deal with difficult plot transitions. It's a shame, because she's quite a good writer. I want to give her three stars, but I closed the book frustrated with her potential. less

Eh...it was ok. Quick easy read but it didn't meet my expectations. I had higher hopes for it.
