review 1: I'm giving this story two stars because 'it was okay' which is the Goodreads definition of two stars.WRITING: I like the writing but it didn't seem up to par with the writing in a couple other books I read by Dokey (Sunlight and Shadow, for example).PLOT: I liked Kai and the Winter Child's parts (although not much really happens adventure-wise with them), but Grace's part of the plot felt random and rambling, which might have a lot to do with Dokey following the fairy tale The Snow Queen, and I think she tried to tie them in, but it doesn't hold together quite well enough, so that could have done with more cohesion, in my opinion.ROMANCE/ RELATIONSHIPS: I think all the relationships besides Grace and Kai's could have done with more development. Unlike other readers, I didn... more't think Grace and Kai should be together, at least not after seeing how annoyed Grace always is with him. She doesn't have patience or understanding for him and it was obvious to me at least that she was so wrong for him.Kai and Deirdre seemed fine together, but not much time to see them get closer.Grace and who she ends up with had tons of potential, but in my opinion Dokey simply didn't want to take the time to explore it, for whatever reason (maybe limited word count or publishing date)
review 2: Yeah, I get why so many reviewers were mad at the ending of the book. I was kind of disapointed with the couples too but I found I liked Deirdre too so the question to me was, does she deserves to have true love? Yes! And it happened to be Kai ...and after all Grace did to find him how could they not ended together? Well, she did made some nice bond with the falcon so it wasn't so shocking she chose Constantine at the end :/I do like the original couple more though, but it was a nice twist ;) less
