review 1: This book is really unbelievable. I don't think the Canadians would put up a whole bunch of dams everywhere considering I am one of them. I don't get how New Zealand and Australia are at war either. Plus at the start of the book it says there dads cooking is bad when later they say it really good. It was really slow faced too. I didn't like this book very much and neither did my friends who read it too.
review 2: All in all, a decent dystopian read. Very fast-paced, it sometimes went by a little too fast -- the plot was racing and it was sometimes hard to keep up with where the characters were going, who was saving them, and why they made allies with certain people and not with others. As is often the case with dystopian novels and me, I was a bit annoy
... moreed by how little you learn about why the world ended up as it is. The reader definitely came to understand the power struggle, but the rapid descent into a world without water seemed a little overblown and I wish the reader learned more about how it happened. I do think this dystopian scenario is worth reading and writing about - as I really believe it's very real. The amount of water that's wasted on a daily basis is staggering and I don't find it hard to believe that this could eventually happen down the road. Definitely a worthy plot line that kept me interested, but the characters fell a little flat. If there was a sequel or a prequel, I would love to read it to hopefully learn more about the world (and maybe get more of an interest in the characters?), but I haven't found anything else by the author...too bad! Good book, not great - but a very fast read! less

Almost constant action without being senseless. Unpredictable and exciting.
