review 1: Debut. Mystery, Crime, Family, Women's rights, Environmental issues. Just didn't do it for me. I didn't like the way the novel was put together-it was rather convoluted and after reading what the author was trying to do, I wish I could have appreciated it, but for me it did not add to the story; instead it took away from what at it's core may have been a fairly good story. Never really felt anything for any of the characters.
review 2: This story kept me guessing throughout the whole book. A young woman disappears from a small upstate New York town. But, no one in town wants to believe that the person(s) responsible could be from the town. I loved the character of Alice Piper. Unique way to tell the story-every section began with a person's name (and there were... more at least 10-12 different characters), location and date. Dates also ranged over several years. Yet the jumping around was not confusing. I was satisfied with the ending. Good book! less
