Book Review: Split Second

Hello Page Turners!

I’ve got a new review for you.

So I finished Split Second by David Baldacci. This is the first book in the King and Maxwell series and it did not disappoint. I came into this author about two months ago with his novel, Memory Man. I immediately fell in love with his work. The chapters are quick. The stories flow and don’t stall. This is a readers dream.

So, like I said, Split Second is the first book in the King and Maxwell series. Sean King and Michelle Maxwell are both Secret Service Agents that lost their protectee. King was at an event with ‘Elect Clyde Ritter’ while Michelle was at a funeral with John Bruno. Clyde Ritter is killed while John Bruno is kidnapped. One of the worst things that can happen to an agent is to lose your protectee. Sean King leaves the agency while Michelle Maxwell is suspended.

Michelle Maxwell eventually starts to look into both cases and realizes something is very wrong. She comes in contact with Sean King when he discovers a dead body in his office. It is then that King and Maxwell join forces to find out what really happened in both of these cases.

One thing I will say, this book eventually got a little confusing. There were just too many people that could be possible suspects in this book. I was lost at one point. But once things started coming together, I couldn’t wait to see how King and Maxwell came out of this.

If you like a good whodunit, mystery and suspense crime novel. This one is for you. It’s the first book in the series that won’t disappoint. I give this book, five stars!
