review 1: *4.5 stars*I am obsessed! I loved this book so much, it was such a joy to read and I had a smile the whole time. No unnecessary drama or angst between the couple, just communication, friendship, a slow burn, and lots of sexual tension! It was just so good, and I plan on rereading as soon as possible. So close to being a 5 star, but I just couldn't make myself believe Jeremy would invite a stranger with him, and Reg would just accept that offer from a stranger, that all seemed slightly unrealistic. And the whole situation with Frederic? Francis? I can't remember his name but I felt like he would have been fired for his shenanigans when it was found out. But none of that really made a huge impact on my enjoyment of the story.
review 2: Wow! I thought this book was
... more going to be about one guy showing the other how to relax and along the way becoming a couple. It ended up being so much more than that. Instead we meet Reggie, who far from being a wastrel, is someone who is living life on his own terms. In walks Jeremy, who despite who rockstar lifestyle, is living the life his management team and other around him want him to. Reggie was an excellent foil for Jeremy. His confidence, loyalty, and competence carried the day. His ability to support Jeremy and his endeavors was heartwarming. The important thing being that it wasn't in a selfish martyrdom sort of way that would have gotten annoying FAST, it was in a I want to do this and the bonus part is I get to be with you and be apart of making your life happy and stress-free. The reward is being with someone who only wants to be with you. He's not really interested in other people and he doesn't have friends but being with Reggie opens that door for Jeremy. I cried and I laughed. The intimacy was a slow burn but a believable slow burn. I didn't feel like I was being jerked around (pardon the pun) instead we see a slow build from hand holding to cuddling and eventually intercourse. I'm going to give CC extra point for interesting use of a fleshlight...a first for me in a romance novel! This book could have been really angsty and annoying but CC managed to handle the fragile lifestyle of Hollywood and child stars in a way that was moving but not maudlin. I'm currently working my way through the backlist and so far so good. Highly recommend. less
