review 1: Lyra is a moonwalker who only comes out of the vaults by night, because moonwalkers are afraid of the sun-dwellers who roam the earth by day. Each night at dusk, they are locked away in the vaults. Lyra's sister, Quil, wishes to see the sun and one morning before dawn, she stays behind within the forbidden forest. Lyra runs to find her, but she falls and knocks her head, falling into unconsciousness. She wakes up looking up into the face of a sun-dweller .... The premise of this story is so original and creative - I loved it!!
review 2: This short story was written beautifully. I loved the author's writing style, which was very descriptive and intelligent. "The Way Life Was Forever" is essentially a retelling of the Pyramus and Thisbe myth; Lyra and Perseus, ho... morewever, only have a symbolic death. I found myself extremely disappointed at the ending that the author didn't continue the idea into a novel. My only true quibble is that the second half of the novella seemed to be rushing to the end. less
