review 1: I AM HOOKED!!! Carl Weber is now one of my favorite authors! I don’t even know where to begin! My favorite characters in the book were definitely Simone, Aaron & Tia! Simone was one of those conniving chicks that no one likes but that people secretly want to know how she does it! She was a trip from the very beginning when she talked about her life, how she “dates” and how she was so materialistic. As the book progressed, I could see the downward spiral happening like it was a reality show!Aaron was one of those wild cards for me! I say that because from the first few chapters, I thought he was basically just like a church gigolo! (Unfortunately, they really do have those! Guys who may be slightly handsome, or in his case FWINE (yes, FWINE) and has to get with every w... moreoman in the church smh) He really surprised me how devoted he became and turned out to be a standup guy, thanks to Tia, in my opinion. Tia was so down to earth and genuinely seemed to have a good heart mixed with a little ratchetness! Lol She, like many women who are trying to do better as Christians, tried to remain calm instead of completely showing out on those who disrespect them and just randomly try it every chance they get! The fact that she was sincere from day one and didn’t get caught up in any of the drama, even when it was brought right to her desk or to her group meeting (side eye @ Simone for that smh) she still kept her cool and didn’t put them paws on her! I thoroughly enjoyed this book & can’t wait to read part two!
review 2: I am a huge Weber fan & this book did his name justice ... To a point. I loved everything about the book except for maybe three or four things (which is great for me). The characters are .... Let's say "different". I was very disappointed in the First Lady & Tia. I feel like they both had some extremely gullible points, especially Monique. (( I really want to point one thing out that just doesn't sit well with me... Tia & Aaron as a couple ??? Like, For real? Idk, I wasn't entertained by Aaron & Tia's relationship at all. To me, it was the most fairy tale concept in the book. I saw where the attraction could of came from between the two but it still wasn't laying right! it just wasn't real enough for me. Then her whole episode she made when she found out his secret... Umm yeah.... )) less
