It’s difficult to review a book you love. At least, that’s how I see it. Books you found interesting but were bland or droll, those are easy. When you can’t find something to critique, that’s hard. Erin Morgenstern’s The Night Circus fits into that category of books so amazing there’s not much to critique.
There’s a lot to like, or love, about this book. It’s filled with intrigue and mystery. At the same time, it isn’t one of those ones that ties up all of the loose ends in a fashion that is somewhat remarkable.
It’s one of those books that can transport you to somewhere completely different. You want to enter Victorian London? Allow Morgenstern to take you there with her languid, flowing words.
Prepare to fall in love with the two leads, Celiac and Marco as they enter into a battle of wits and magic. But it’s not just about that, there’s a love story there too – one for the ages.
So, if you’re anything like me, you’ll fall in love with this book. It is, and will remain I think, one of the greats.
