Madam of Espionage Mysteries
review 1: #1 Madam of Espionage - Historical Mystery*4.5 stars*I loved *everything* about this book! Adventure, mystery, intriguing characters, surprise twists & turns -- perfectly paced. What a delightful page turner! India Black is the madam of a high class brothel. She makes no apologies to anyone, is matter of fact and has a very clear, no nonsense approach to her business and the girls she employs.India is strong, sassy, witty, and holds her own with the most powerful of men. She's simply a wonderful and memorable character!India is suddenly drawn into the world of espionage and conspiracies, not willingly, but is unable to say no (no spoilers).Highly recommend this book, and am eager to read more in the series!
review 2: India Black, the clever madam at the h
... moreeart of this cozy mystery, craves adventure beyond the walls of Lotus House, her "establishment." When one of her clients, a government official, dies unexpectedly and his briefcase subsequently disappears, India earns an audience with the prime minister and his most trusted spy, the stone-faced agent French. Charged with the retrieval of the briefcase, India and French embark on a comic mission filled with harlots, hoodlums, and Russian spies. Saucy, irreverent, and a dab hand with a 0.442 Webley British Bulldog, India is a highly entertaining narrator, and what her story lacks in realism, it more than makes up for in humor. less

Quick, fun read. Less spycraft and more like a heist novel where things go wrong but I enjoyed it.
