review 1: More like 3 1/2 stars. I ended up enjoying this little "feel-good" book more than I thought I would. The beginning threw me a little, mainly because I felt like too much focus was on Trudy's weight, but as Trudy found her spunk, I found I liked her character. I confess, I fell head over heels for Billy Lee and his sweet, Southern ways. There's something about characters like his that are endearing to me, for whatever reason. There were a few times the conversations seemed a little abrupt, and I would have liked to see a little more depth when Billy Lee finally revealed his true feelings, but if you're in the mood for a fluffy story and a happy ending, I'd still recommend this book.
review 2: Seriously? This was just about the most unbelievably ridiculous predi
... morectable romance I've read in years. Sure, this genre is fantasy...but this for me was just absurd over the top and completely unrealistic for how an overweight 40 year old in the South would dress and/or act. Putting all that aside, there were still unanswered questions throughout the book that drove me nuts and were never answered around Billy Lee's life. My 75-80 year old parents even have iPads and cell phones and use their computers every day. This sounds like it was written in the 80s, but alas it was not. Obviously based on the other reviews here, I'm in the minority... less
