review 1: When Callie's sister dies in a car wreck it becomes up to her to step in and raise her 6 year old nephew Martin. Wen Martin is 8 years old her witness's a murder and can identify the killer. The authorities want them in the Witness Protection Programs but Callie is against it and has them take her to a place where she knows she'll be safe, Burnt Boot Texas.Finn O'Donnell is done with the government agencies. FBI CIA all of them. He's bought himself a ranch and is going to live out his days alone with just his dog Shotgun in peace.Well at least he thought he was.This is my first book by Carolyn Brown and so not my last. Loving this series so far. It's funny, heart-warming and sassy as all get out. Love Gladys, Polly and Vertie as much as Finn, Callie and Martin. Looking for... moreward to seeing what the two feuding families do to each other next.
review 2: Just finished reading Carolyn Brown’s Cowboy Boots For Christmas. I received an ARC from Netgalley. i think this is her best one yet! Filled with warm fuzzy feeling scenes since the story takes place around christmas and it even has animals. My favorite is Joe the parrot who is a great comedian who provided much needed laughter. He had me laughing in stitches throughout the book with his very colorful vocabulary which impressed me. . I loved getting to know Finn, Callie, Martin, Granny Verdie. I want a granny like Verdie. Actually I did have a granny like Verdie so I feel like I’ve been blessed as well as kids in this book was. Thou my own Memaw has been gone for 11 years, Verdie reminded me so much of her. This book has it all, romance and heck even an entertaining feud between the Brennans and Gallaghers. 5 star read! less
