review 1: This book was...I do not even know what this book was. I liked the description but the characters were horrible. Travis was delicious and sweet. The girls in the book were just sucky. Emma was a royal bitch and I hated everything about her. She was clueless, spoiled, stuck up, and generally just horrible. It bothered me that Travis liked her and fell in love with her in the span of four days. He persued her even though she was really demeaning towards him. She also seemed absolutely clueless about life. Even after she decided she would date him, she was still horrible to him in front of other people and had no respect for him and yet he just forgave her immediately. Ridiculous. I don't know much about small town hicks as they refer to themselves but I had a hard time relat... moreing to any of these characters or their situations. I also had a hard time trying to figure out what year this all took place because it seemed like the 50's but they mentioned going to see a Kate Hudson movie and having iphones. It was just bizarre really. The author also left a lot unanswered. She had two other characters and their husbands left with completely unresolved issues and you never find out what Vince's deal is or why Russell is so strange. I think it was a good concept so to speak but was not executed well.
review 2: Contemporary small town romance between a rich young lady and a damaged mechanic that only know each other from church and rumours from growing up in the same town.Arden Butler comes from a banker family and is very much a princess, but she does have a group of great girl-friends to keep her grounded, her biggest problem is her fiance, Nick who is a bad person but she doesn't want to see it.Travis Lanier is the damaged mechanic who takes care of everyone around him. His biggest problem is that he lets the people around him use him and abuse him, but lucky for him he does have a brother, Dustin who keeps him centered and helps him to dump the bad people, even one of the bad people is his other brother. It all starts when Travis and Arden get stuck in an isolated farmhouse for a few days when there is a sudden snowstorm, which is one of my favorite plot devices. But nothing happens except that they become friends and really get to know each other as deserving of love. There are lots of other loves stories that revolve around the Travis/Arden story. I really liked Arden's best-friend Emma who is waiting for marriage before any sexy time and she sticks to her beliefs until the very end.Lots of story with a big entourage of family and friends with just about every type of relationship (except no gay friends) in this lightly Christian romance. There are sexy scenes some are really not so sexy like when Nick and Arden are together.388 pages and kindle freebie2 stars less
