review 1: If you're a fan of the series and have read the prior four, you of course, have to read this one. If not, don't start with this one. There are many reference to characters from prior books and no time spent on back stories -- which I appreciate as a reader of the entire series. The story was an interesting premise with nice handling of two subplots that kept me interested in where the story was going. There was a lot to like about the book, anticipation was definitely built around the main story line and the series of events seemed plausible (although the texting at the beginning of the book made me cringe.) Then, we get to the story's climax. What was that?!? So unrealistic, so disappointing, so unfulfilling. All bread, no meat in this romance left me starving!Fortu... morenately the book is well written and wraps up the stories with the previous four books in a nice tidy bow, so there's that.
review 2: This is definitely one of those books/series that when I read "the end," I was heartbroken. I have grown to love all of the characters and get excited every time I get to have another peek into their lives. Casey McMillin, in my opinion, writes books that everyone can relate to. The characters are normal people (with the exception of them being Olympic swimmers, of course). They could be your neighbor or your best friend. I have laughed with them on many occasions. I have cried with them. I have loved with them. I will definitely miss them...Can't wait for Casey McMillin's next endeavor. :) less
