review 1: First of all, I suck at reviews. So please don't comment on how bad this review was or how I can never put my thoughts down on paper. Second, haters who are saying that Cassie Clare shouldn't write another book, that it's gone on long enough, just keep it to yourself. You can say you disliked it for whatever reason, yadayadayada, but there's no need to rant on how much you hate it. If you don't like the series, then you don't have to read it. It's as simple as that. Third, the world in these books. It's amazing. I don't think that I would have been able to keep track of everything. It seems that everyone is related in some way, and that seemingly insignificant things turn out to be super important later, I just love that. When some random item turns out to be some... morebody else's from another time, I just find myself in a fit of fangirl giggles. Next, the characters. People say that CC has run out of ideas for character building, and they're all stereotypical, whiny, etc. Some of the characters do have much of the same personality, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Take Will and Jace, for example. Both sarcastic and arrogant on the outside, and romantic and caring on the inside. Some say that this is because they're related, and that their character development is the same, and it's boring, and it's the stereotype 'bad boy with a dark past' but no, it's not that at all for me. It was necessary for the other characters to react to them the way that thy did to make both Will and Jace have the same reaction to the similar events in their lives. And besides, I thought it was interesting to see such similar people have such similar character development in such different time periods and people. Lastly, the writing style. I think the thing that I liked the most was the was CC wrote the POVs. It was different. I also liked how the descriptions of places were enough for me to visualize the location, but not too much that I started drooling on my desk and staring out into space, which is usually how I know I need to put aside a book. All in all, this series is highly recommended, and if you think that you can't get through the first book, I beg you to finish it, and then make a decision. You'll probably be glad you did, even if you decide that you don't want to continue. 5 out of 5 stars for the whole series.
review 2: I don't reach much, but I finished the whole 5 books in one week and it was mental! I don't get why some people say that this is just another Twilight or The Hunger Games. Clearly, they have not read the book. This is a book that I as human being can relate, to the young me. It has been a great adventure so far, wish I had found the book a few years earlier. Can't wait for the last book to come out! less
