review 1: This is the sequel to Nightshifted, about a nurse blackmailed into working in a hospital unit that serves supernatural creatures. In the first book, Alexander introduced a world of weres, vamps, zombies, shifters, etc. and strange beings called Shadows that have interesting powers. She met Anna, a living vampire, Ti a zombie our heroine Edie Spence was attracted to, and was embroiled in a struggle that left her alive but injured. In this book, she has recovered and returned to work, but of course gets embroiled in another struggle. I liked (in priority order):1. Anna the living vampire2. Lucas (were) and Asher (shifter), good looking guys willing to fool around3. Grandfather (sentient radio)4. Gideon and Grandfather (you have to read the book to understand this)5. the m... moreystery in the book6. HelenI didn't like, again in priority with comments:1. Jake, Edie's loser junkie brother, who is a huge burden to her2. Edie's inability to keep her family from pushing her around (I don't like doormats)3. Edie's poverty (not blaming her for it, just painful to watch her struggle).In any case, a good read and I wish there was more of Anna, I would love a book with her as the main character.
review 2: Edie is back at work, at the hospital, when she a man is hit by a car in a brutal hit and run. While starting emergency triage she realizes that it isn't a man, but a Were. Thus she's once again dragged back into the world of the Vampires and Weres, and other hidden creatures. At least more than her job requires.Another really good book - Alot of action to keep you reading, and the mystery wasn't perfect but had enough of a twist to keep me entertained. less
