review 1: It took me ages to read this. Admittedly, there was a 2 week holiday in the middle and as I'd borrowed the book I didn't want to take it with me in case it got damaged. That aside, I really struggled. I found it very slow to get anywhere and I couldn't warm to the main character. It did get going a bit by the last third/quarter, and although there were a few bits I felt I could take away from it, it definitely wasn't an enjoyable read, at least to me. Glad it's finished! ;)
review 2: This was an excellent book struggled to put the book down. Ella is married but her husband lives in the house next door while she rents another out for a time but her mother moves in to it and leaves her father. Ella liked the idea of an affair but when it comes to it she cannot ... moreand her husband moves out and into Oxford and the children follow leaving Ella alone and lonely. Her mother gets back with the father and they want to start a new life in London and Ella goes to her husbands house to see about making things up and slowly getting back together but she sees another woman coming out of the house so thinks he has a new lady friend so comes home but as she goes to close the curtains her husband peers through and frightens her but looks like they can build the bridges and get back together. Well worth reading. less
