review 1: This is #1 in A Valance Family Novel. I loved this book the minute I started it. Gabriel is a very interesting character and even though this was a historical romance, that is just a small part of the story. I don't normally like books that are western in nature, but this was delightful. I even liked the Angels in this book and how good and evil are at war in Gabriel's head.This was a very happy sad book and I suggest having the tissues handy. I had periods when I could hardly see the page because of the tears. I don't normally like books that have a religious nature to them, but this was just a minor part and really did love the angel aspect.This book did deal with some heavy issues but they were done tastefully. I would highly recommend this book if you are lookin... moreg for a romance and sort of a Christmas theme. I guess because it is almost November I just got a jump on the season to feel good about it.I am giving this 5 out of 5 stars and plan to read more books by Ms. Anderson.
review 2: This wasn't my favorite Catherine Anderson, but it was spectacular none the less. I liked the lead man as a hero, the rough around the edges cowboy with a heart of gold. I also felt sympathy for the leading lady. Catherine Anderson always managed to hold my attention and keep me coming back to her books. I own nearly every book she's written and I always watch for the ones I haven't. I would recommend her as an author to anyone, this book maybe not. It was good, but not her best. I'm a religious person, but I found her concept of Angels a bit unrealistic, not that it distracted from the overall amazing plot. I'm glad I gave this book a try and added it to my collection, but I would recommend another novel for someone to read if they asked for her. less
