review 1: Full disclosure: I bought this book for its cover! But I had a nice time reading it. It's aimed at pretty young readers so the storyline's very simple but the characters feel real and likeable (even Honey, she's a troubled teen not a typical Mean Girl). All in all, it might have been a little bit too sweet for my liking (I could have done with more of an edge) but that may be simply because I am not the intended reader.
review 2: Cherry Crush is the first book in the new Chocolate Box Girls series by Cathy Cassidy. With each book from the point of view of one of the five sisters, this one follows the life of Cherry Costello. After Cherry's father finds a new girlfriend he and Cherry move to Kitnor where her new mother and four sisters live. She begins to get wor
... moreried as she doesn't know any of the new family but soon she finds a friend Shay to help show her around. As Cherry and Shay get closer there are problems though, as Shay is the boyfriend of Honey, one of Cherry's step sisters. Can this really end in happiness?I really enjoyed reading the book from Cherry's perspective and think it will be interesting to get to know each of the sisters individually. It is a great idea to have a book series from five sisters view. I liked that we started the book with Cherry moving into a new house as it is the start of a new chapter for the family and it is interesting to see how the other sisters feel about a new person living in there home. Not everyone is as accepting of a new sibling. It is great that they all have the chocolate business in common as it shows they care about the family and want to help there parents make a success of the family business. The relationship both sisters have with Shay was particularly interesting to read and you can't help but feel for both sisters, will Cherry lose her first new friend or will Honey lose her boyfriend. I have always enjoyed Cathy Cassidy's books and this one is no exception, I look forward to reading the rest of the Chocolate Box Girls series. less
