review 1: A great story but I do feel conflicted as Britain has a huge problem with migrant workers. I recently read that 2 thirds of people who have recently got jobs have been foreign nationals. I don't know it's depressing. It's the language barrier I hate most.Saying that I really liked the characters in this, Anya was likeable enough but didn't have much personality other than liking Dan and worrying about her family. I thought the way Anya's life was portrayed, it seemed very accurate. I also liked the ending.
review 2: I read this book years ago, and still go back to it time to time. Great read for the middle school age group. Don't let the cover or title fool you- this is not a 'girl' book (though maybe some preteen boys would feel awkward reading a few parts whe
... morere the main character describes her crush). Some of the perspectives of immigration from a 13-year-old practically made me cry out of sympathy. Definitely Cassidy's strongest work. less
