Annie's Attic Mysteries
review 1: Medals in the Attic is the second book in Annie’s Attic Mysteries by Cathy Elliott. This mystery is carefully plotted out and the characterization is very well done. The book is short and easily read in a couple of hours. It is a pretty good little book. Annie Dawson is still in Maine at her Grandmother’s home, Grey Gables. She finds it impossible to leave until she cleans out the attic and decides what she wants to do with the house. She has made friends in Stony Point and feels she has been slightly accepted. She and her friend Alice are in the attic trying to locate a small afghan that Annie crocheted when she was just a child. It has to be there as it looks like her Grandmother never threw anything away. She is also looking for something to donate to the ... moreChurch auction that is coming up. She had hoped to have an afghan finished but it is going slowly. She finds a picture that may or may not be of importance and just as she is getting ready to leave, her cat Boots causes a carpet roll to start to unroll. When Annie puts the carpet back in a roll, she notices a box behind the carpet roll. The box looks like one her Grandfather would have made. Inside she finds two medals and some photos. She recognizes one as a purple heart but does not recognize the second one. Who did the medals belong to? She knows they aren’t her grandfather’s because his are in a frame and displayed. Who are the two people in the photographs? One looks a little like her Grandmother but not enough to recognize. Can Annie figure out who the medals belong to and what they mean? How do these medals affect her family and why were her grandparents hiding them?
review 2: This author has not dulled my senses. I enjoyed this book and trying to figure out about the owner of the medals. What a challenge! She is trying to get my attention in all of her books. Bring it on!!!Annie found 2 medals in Betsy's attic. She wondered why they were not in the case downstairs with the other medals of her grandpa's. Her friend, Alice, always helps her and tries to help her along. Also, the mayor, Ian, who is a good source of finding out anything in Stony Point.I am glad the Medal of Honor and Purple Heart recipient and his family will always be happy Annie's grandparents kept those medals for him. Love this book. Love the author for writing such wonderful stories. less
