review 1: I spent half an hour writing a lengthy review for this, clicked save and waited overnight while the internet tried in vain to upload it. Sadly I had failed to save it first. I can't bear to rewrite it, but will say that I loved this book. It is primarily a book about relationships - mostly within Meggie O'Rourke's family, but also within Satin, Lace & Baubles, the family owned company. As the book moves along the reader learns through reading about Meggie's video's of employees describing what bra has been special to them and why, that family is much more than who is a related by blood. I laughed as I read it and I cried. The characters are flawed, but humanly so. Read it - you'll look at bra's in a whole new way!
review 2: Started it, thought I'd like it-- did
... moren't make it through a full chapter, I don't think. I got the sense the book was going to be all about sex, etc. and one scene (while blatantly stated without detail) was horrific enough that I didn't WANT to read more and see how detailed this author could get. I figure others probably will love it(as evidenced by the ratings)--but this just isn't for me. I also felt that I was being preached at a bit, so again, who knows if it would have continued or not but I didn't want to bother to figure it out. less
