Father Christmas Mystery
review 1: Father Tom Christmas, a recently widowed Anglican priest, and his young daughter, Miranda, have lived in the small English village of Thornford Regis for a year now and are adjusting to life in rural England. At the annual Robert Burns dinner sponsored by a local pipe band, the Thistle But Mostly Rose South Devon Pipe Band, held at the Thornford Court Hotel during a rare blizzard affecting all of England, one of the pipers is found dead and everyone in attendance is a suspect. At almost 500 pages, this book is a bit long for a "cozy" mystery, but I enjoyed the complex plotting, judicious use of red herrings, character development, and descriptions of English village life in the 21st century that, no doubt, don't really exist.
review 2: Very different than exp
... moreected; very entertaining story about a small town in England and a mysterious death at a Burns Night supper, a mysterious visitor who lived in the town years ago, and the local vicar Father Tom Christmas who is in the middle of it all. Many more twists and turns and kept the interest going. Loved all the British/Scottish quaintness and local colour…looking forward to the next book... less

I am enjoying this series and only wish I could remember the "britishisms" long enough to use them!
