review 1: I'm a big Cecelia Ahern fan - have been since I was 13. Her books are well-told and chockfull of odd and lovable characters. And I love that her stories, and those in them, are quirky. And if that's what you're hoping for, you'll probably be a tad bit disappointed. I was a really big fan of 'How to Fall in Love', which she released earlier this year. However, this book just didn't impress me like "How to.." and her many others. It starts off a bit slow for one. The narration was second person (sometimes), which was kind of fun to read once you got who the 'you' was, but made me question why the narrator was in fact writing to said 'you,' and it is sort of answered, but not really. The sub-plot romance between Monday and Jasmine didn't really add or detract. The best charac... moreter relationships were within the neighborhood, and in particular Dr. J, Matt, and Jasmine. Matt was my favorite character by far - troubled, but hilarious followed closely by Heather. The overall point of the book is clear: this book is an examination of the process of change, much like the changes a garden undergoes throughout the four seasons (I saw that metaphor Ahern - good one). The book could've been improved if fleshed out a bit more.Overall review: 3.5
review 2: Overall, I found it a bit anti-climactic. I never really got into the Jasmine-Monday story, it felt more like a subplot so I could not muster up enough enthusiasm for it. I also got the feeling that there were a few loose ends as if Ahern could not fit some of the storylines in 300-odd pages. It had some very good moments and the idea to steer away from the typical guy met girl and fell in love main plot was a nice one, it just didn't seem to turn out that well after all. Having in mind how much I loved How To Fall In Love, this one was a bit of a disappointment, but I still enjoyed it. less
