review 1: Half way through with this book so far and it is terrible! There are 6 main characters, a hippy rebel, a shy nerd, a stupid blonde prep, an annoying jock, a dark and gothic girl, and a druggie. I don't think I have ever read a more unoriginal book in my life. None of the characters have any depth to them. The only way you can even tell that the characters are different from one another is when the author describes what they look like, other than that they're all sarcastic assholes and pretty much say the same things. It's also very unrealistic. It's not even close to an actual college experience. Every guy in the book likes the same girl, the same girl who is a stupid blonde who smokes and acts like a troubled teenager even though she has guys falling all over her. I hate ... morewriting a bad review, especially when I know some one is a good author, but this is just bad.
review 2: (There are SPOILERS in this review)If you're wanting to read a fantastic book, this is not it. If you're looking to read a cute little book for the day, then I'd suggest this. The book was really super fake to me. Not reminiscent of a true college experience at all. The President of the school let them enjoy a 30 foot high fire and throw their clothes into it while the firemen waited for them to finish having fun. Parents bought 3 kegs for a party and left them alone. The first day they stole campus property and drove while stoned and they only had to stay on campus and even when that rule was broken it was perfectly fine. I mean there was no tension as far as having to be on top of your grades and being a good student. They were all able to do whatever they wanted and it was perfectly fine which was boring as far as that went. The book is really fast which really was a problem especially because it's a stand alone book. I didn't feel right reading about them in August and then having the next line be "Cut to October" And there wasn't even a Halloween party :( When you're writing a stand alone book about the lives of 5 freshamn who fall in love and get in trouble and do drugs and things like that, there needs to be time to see the relationships form. It's like BAM Shipley loves Tom and Tom loves Shipley and somewhere along the line he told his parents they were gonna get married and it was this serious relationship. You never FEEL that, you're TOLD it, which is a problem for me. And then you have Adam who I felt was just a completely obsessed creep. You never really see much going on between them, yet he was super depressed and not eating and considering switching schools because of her it was just weird. And Nick and Eliza? I mean come on. Everyone loved each other, but you never knew how or why. Especially when it comes to Shipley. Overall though, it was really cute. Tom and his drug induced week, the parents visting, Tragedy, everyone back stories and the mysterious Pink Patrick. It was cute, but not great. She's done better, but it wasn't that bad. less
