review 1: This is by far the strangest book I have ever read! I am still shaking my head trying to figure it out. The story starts out about a Ava, a young woman who lost her job and needs to find another. She lives in NYC with her younger sister Rachel for 2 years now. She is desperate to find something when she finds a too good to be true job posting on Craigslist. She applies, gets a response back that evening (at 2 am...really?) to come in the next morning for an interview. At the job interview there are 3 candidates interviewed at the same time by the CEO, who has 2 questions for them. First question, what would you do immediately if you got the job and the 2nd question, what would be your last meal. What? Really? Well, Ava gives 2 funny and hilarious answers...and ba... morem she got the job and then the bizarre story spirals out of control to the point I am shaking my head laughing. I do give Ava 5 stars for her wit, determination and bravado. Otherwise I am not sure what this story was about. The sad part is that there is a second book and I am slightly curious what it could be about. You ask why am I curious because the h in this story is great, she is a firecracker that actually had me laughing. I just wish the story would have been at least 1/10th believable to read. Let me know your thoughts :)
review 2: 2.5 starsThis book was not for me, although it was terrible (I wouldn't have finished it if it was) it was not the kind of thing I'm interested in reading, I don't find sex trafficking something that is enjoyable to read nor is the type of violence involved in this book. I do read books in this genre but this book had subjects that I didn't enjoy and the writing wasn't all that good I found it to be a little immature (especially the romance part of the story) and reminded me a lot of a YA romance while the heroine was 24 I think it could have been done better. The story moved along too fast and I thought it was missing some development between the characters as well as a little more background. The story could have been ended a little better with more closure regarded Ava contacting Rachel. I won't be reading anymore in this series. less
