review 1: I would rate this 2.5 (in between it was ok and liking it). What I like about this series- it gives (some) plausible explanations for how things may happen during the last days. There certainly were things that I agreed with and ideas I hadn't contemplated before. What I didn't like about the series- Some of the ideas for how things will happen seem far out there and some things are just plain corny. Daybell gives more descriptions of what is happening than dialogue or portraying how the characters feel & think. You don't really feel like you know the characters. That said, if you are a fan of LDS fiction and are interested in the last days then it is worth reading the series once.
review 2: There really needs to be something between "didn't like it" and "it... more was ok." As with the rest of Daybell's books, there is very little dialogue. The action and everything is described, but you're not really seeing anything happen through any of the character's eyes. It gets irritating fast. The ending is kind of abrupt and "jigga-wha?" And the epilogue is even a little, dare I say, weird. At least, weirder than the rest of the book. So, not the worst Second Coming LDS fiction I have ever read. Also not the best. At least the books are short, so you can get through them fast. less
