review 1: I think it should first be stated that this book is definitely not for everyone. It is extremely cheesy and corny and mostly predictable, which makes it hard for some people to get through the first 20 pages (as seen by some of the other reviews). If you are not okay with that, picking up this book would be a waste of time. That being said, I did actually enjoy this book. It's a great guilty pleasure read. I picked it up at the library on a dare from my brother, and it sat unread in my room for two weeks. However, one evening I found myself incredibly bored out of my mind so I sat down in front of the heater in my kitchen and ended up reading it in one sitting. The book is decently compelling, and some of the characters have some depth in them that you can see more towards ... morethe end of the novel. Another thing I appreciated were some some of the Pride and Prejudice references, and I just happened to be reading that around the same time.
review 2: Despite everyone going on about how cliché and unoriginal they all thought this book was...um it's kind of supposed to be?I'm not sure why, but I've always enjoyed the drama-filled, cliché high school geek and jock novels. Maybe it's the thought of finding yourself in a situation like they end up in. Honestly, I think it's enjoyable and...just plain fun. This book was very entertaining and Jack was more detailed and full of brains unlike the jocks that the girls usually end up crushing on. (UGHHHH.)Overall, I thought this book was hysterical and had me laughing from start to finish, with a chorus of 'awws' and screeches. I completely recommend this! less
