review 1: This is one of the most beautiful stories I have ever read, in my life. To endure so much at once and to have your faith tested time after time...... and always come out on top. This is a fictional story, but it's realistic. I can relate to both Dylan and Maggie in so many ways. Their story made me sit back and look at my own life and my struggles and my relationships. What I can work on and what I need to let go of. This is a reminder for me that He is always there. Everyone has struggles in their life, that is life. This was an eye opener for me for sure. A reminder that it's okay to be broken, even more than once. A reminder of something I say all the time to my kiddos... "Everything happens for a reason. Even if we don't understand it or like it". Don't lose sight of H... moreim, he will always get you through the most toughest of times.
review 2: This book contains Charles Martin's first book "The Dead Don't Dance" and its sequel, "Maggie." I have to say I liked "The Dead Don't Dance" much better then "Maggie."In "The Dead Don't Dance" Maggie gives birth to a stillborn boy and has her own problems with hemeroging, and ends up in a coma for months. The story is about her husband (and I hate to say I can't remember his name) and how he deals with everything. You feel for him and his anger, frustration, loneliness, etc. You can tell how the people in the small South Carolina town (yes, this is one of the reasons I started to read this story, it took place in South Carolina) he is in love him and his wife. For a first book, it was really well done.In "Maggie" I was just wanting to yell, "Get Help! She lost a baby, never got to hold him, only saw him for a moment before going into a coma. She needs to talk about it, and also her husband needs to talk about it." I think I could have handled all this, but it was everything else that was happening, and had happened in the previous book that was driving me crazy. I kept thinking how much problems is he going to give to this couple. Can't they catch a break? Between trying to have another child or adopting a child, and losing babies, and being beaten, burned, etc (between the bothof them) I was going crazy. Just a little too much for me. I would recommend "The Dead Don't Dance," but only recommend "Maggie" to those who really like to read sequels. less
