review 1: Kale (Fire Inside #1)By: Chelsea Camaron & Theresa Marguerite Hewitt4/5 starsKale is a smoke jumper who battles wildfires in Idaho. It is a thankless, difficult, dangerous and sometimes deadly job. But he wouldn’t have it any other way. His father was a fire fighter and was not only a hero in the community but was a hero to his son, his daughter and his wife. Their father has been forever immortalized since dying in the line of duty.Paige is the best friend of Piper, Kale’s younger sister. Paige has also been in love with Kale for a very long time, but he has never seen her as anyone other than his little sister’s best friend and a little girl in pig tails. She’s always been the shy wallflower with no confidence. Growing up her mother verbally abused her and beat h... moreer down. Paige is beautiful and has no clue.Kale, not wanting to make any connections for fear of losing that person, only has one-night stands but he knows that he is missing out on something. The only people that he is even close to are his fellow brothers on the force, his mother, his sister and Paige who has been in his life since before his father died.Paige wishes that Kale would notice her, but after an encounter, he lets her know that it was a mistake and several of his fellow smoke jumpers would be more than happy for Paige to be their girlfriend. Kale doesn’t understand his feelings and hates that he has them. It takes almost losing Paige to a horrific accident for him to come to terms with his feelings. But Paige just doesn’t know that she can actually believe Kale and that he won’t think that she is a mistake. She doesn’t trust him to change his mind and leave her blowing in the wind. Kale has his work cut out for him, but knows that Paige is a strong woman who understands his job and who would be the perfect woman for him.I really liked this book, but my only complaint is how much history Kale and Paige had and he never saw it or was unwilling to acknowledge. He says that he didn’t know how he had always cared for her, but that she was always there. But he went out of his way to protect Paige and to be with her during significant times in her life and admits that he didn’t remember anything about his sister during those times. It just seemed too fabricated and way to obvious for him to never get it until someone else pointed it out to him and then he remembered so much about what he did to take care of her.I absolutely LOVED Paige’s superhero undies…they really cracked me up! I can’t wait for the next book in the series, which I’m hoping will be Piper’s book!
review 2: 4.5 Stars - Great story.Kale is a firefighter. He's one of those guys who they drop in by helicopter for really bad fires. His dad was also a fireman, and Kale was there and watched the day his dad died during an explosion. But it's what he's always wanted to do and he's damn good at his job.Paige is best friends with Piper and is in love with Piper's big brother Kale. She always has been for as long as she can remember. Problem is, Kale only sees her as a brother would. Or does he? After an unexpected encounter between them, Kale gets scared and runs. He's always stayed clear of relationships. His job is too dangerous and he doesn't want to leave a girl behind and grieving over him. But when he realizes just how much he really cares about Paige and how messed up his leaving her was, it may be too late.I loved Kale. He's a sexy firefighter who loves his family, and that includes Paige. Once he decides what he wants, he goes all in. I got a little annoyed with Paige. I really liked her a lot, but at one point, she was trying to deny what she'd wanted for a number of years. But she's not the only one. Kale makes a bad move too.Overall, I really enjoyed this book and hope we'll get a book about Mason and Piper. less
