review 1: It's a good YA fantasy, nothing too intense or unexpected. If you want a pause from books like Sanderson's or Martin's and a easy read this is the book for you. There are few particularity about the plot, the rest is the same that can be found in any other type of YA urban fantasy (and it isn't as good as the Mortal instruments serie).Right now I'm reading the second book, and it seems there will be a triangle (which I don't like).I didn't found any big no about this book, so I can't give it less than 4 stars, but I didn't found anything remarkable either; to me the central pilaster of a story is the protagonist: unforgettable characters make the story unique, even when the story is banal; They are the ones that within a few years you will still remember and cherish. In th... moreis book you will find not such characters. They aren't plain but don't have depth.I read this story in few hours, and liked it, but when the book ended I didn't feel too sad or attached. This book is good, but not too good. Or maybe I'm just getting older and the young adult books aren't enough for me anymore.
review 2: I was held captive by this book! I finished reading this book in one day, I had a hard time putting it down. The story and the characters were well written. The story is about Lily (a young woman) who has to go to a private school in Chicago because he parents are going away to work out of the country. Lilly makes friends with Scout almost instantly. They become best friends. When you are new to a school, the best thing is to make at least one best friend; who will watch over you and someone you can confide in. The only problem is that Scout leaves the school every night; saying that she has something she has to take care of. What could be this secret; that she can't tell her BFF? Of course Lilly is nosy and tries to follow Scout to discover her secret. Strange things happen, and she is on a quest to find the answers. This story has quite a few twists and turns, and it keeps you guessing until the very end. One thing I might mention; there is something strange about Lilly's parents....but you need to read this book to find out. Thank you Chloe Neill for writing this book. I definatly would be interested in reading more of your work....You are a good writer. less
