review 1: I stumbled across Chris Priestleys books a while ago and have been fascinated with them ever since. He blends accessible and fast paced stories with the essence of the classic gothic terror and suspense story. And as such this story is no different to his earlier books however its style is totally new. This book is one continuous story as it follows the travels of Billy and mister Creecher and their relationship to each other. The book is a fascinating tale of what they experience and see and how they both grow to the characters you eventually recognise and know. Its an interesting read not only for the story but how so familiar characters are woven together to create something totally new and different.
review 2: This seemed like such a promising book - Franke
... morenstein/Oliver Twist/Romantic poets, by the author of the really enjoyable Tales of Terror books. For some reason though, this novel was just incredibly dull. I can't say it was really bad, but a boring story may be even worse than a bad one in my opinion. Pretty much nothing happened, the characters were underdeveloped (even though there were only a few) and the writing was mediocre at best. Big letdown. less

A novel based of Frankenstein, with some smart ideas, but the plot goes way too slowly.

Not what I expected, quite a thoughtful tale in many ways.
