review 1: You can tell that this book was written by a software developer. Many of the themes and cute terms (at first until they become overused) are easily identifiable. The book has OK characters but needs more definition. The author seems to try show off too much with his knowledge of facts and the timeline is confusing. There is almost no reason for the main character to do the things he does. The ending is particularly disappointing and as the plot unravels it left me wondering if I understood it correctly.
review 2: I picked this book up based on the cover and it was an engaging read. I think in particular, engineers and scientists would appreciate the author's approach of explaining the science and programming in some places. I'm more plot and character focu
... moresed. The storyline is so very fun. I appreciated the twist and the whole plot throughout. It's difficult to connect with any of the characters beyond Arik and the ending wrapped up quickly. That said, I found the concept intriguing and unique. less

Interesting first novel that kept me guessing even after I had figured out one of the big reveals.

Fabulously poignant science fiction. A quick read that's well paced without fluff.

Great science fiction. Reminded me of Hugh Howey's Wool.
