review 1: This is the second book I've read by McKenna and I love the Irish brogue and the setting. Initially it took me a little bit of time to get into this book as I didn't really understand how all the very different characters went together. However as much as a town has a diverse group of people, so does a little Irish village. The most endearing character is Herkie (short for Hercules). I can't wait for McKenna's next novel!
review 2: Quite enjoyed this, though took me a while to get started... Previous book the misremembered man was more enthralling though I enjoyed this one more (less depressing subject matter). The heroine of the previous book becomes a side-story as a busybody but that seemed quite believable - told from another perspective... A bit rambly
... more and not particularly reflective of the troubles. 3.5*. A holiday read. less

nothing like the first one and the kid was too whiny.
