review 1: Corrupt attorney, Russian millionaires, Russian government, money laundering, hidden bank accts, bogus companies, all contribute to this story. Throw in blackmail, dysfunctional relationships, and u have quite a story. I felt that the author was too wordy at times, moved too slowly, didn't really explain to the reader exactly what the Russian govt was hiding from the public that was worth killing people over plus I didn't like the ending. When I finished the book, I felt I wasted valuable time as there were too many questions left unanswered.
review 2: A promising debut, with interesting tradecraft by an actual practitioner (at least according to the dust jacket biography.) There are not a lot of plot twists, and the suspense is minimal. Nevertheless, the
... more writing is good, and the disaffected characters and the corporatist world they inhabit have verisimilitude. It is all a bit too plausible. I'll be keeping an eye out for Jones' second effort, which I predict will be even better. less
